This Raffia Ribbon purse is a major fashion statement. Woven ribbons adorn one side while the alternate side holds the woven raffia. The raffia has been "shredded" to create a fluffy, wild look. Small fabric roses painted with gold adorn the top of the woven ribbon. A gold cord has been woven through the top of the purse and hangs as a tassle with ceramic beads from each side. The handle is made of vintage Venetian glass beads. The interior is lined with a chartreuse silk fabric woven with dragonflies.

For those of you unfamiliar with raffia, it is made from the leaves of a large palm tree where the harvested leaves are dried then stripped to create raffia strands. The palm is called Raphia Farinifera which has the largest leaves of any palm tree.

Raffia is used by millners and florists for a variety of projects and gifts. In my case, I enjoy weaving it to create very unique and one of a kind purses.
