"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old time is still a-flying,
And this same flower that smiles today,
To-morrow will be dying."
~Robert Herrick
The perfect vessel to keep your deepest treasures; a cigar box transformed by layered art papers in tattered hues of blue, green and gold frame Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May, by JW Waterhouse. There are multiple layers of different sealants, giving the piece a leathery hand. The maiden bears a chalice of roses in some faraway ceremony, and a wash of antique gold and muted gold accents around edges add to the long ago feel.
The interior is finished with a patina/gold wash and a golden green crushed velvet lower lining. The exterior bottom is painted deep brown and glass globs serve as feet. A new brass closure has been added.
